Two mountings are also supplied: a clamp that slides between the shell and the padding, and a 3M adhesive pad for helmets where the clamp will not fit.

Allow around fifteen minutes for the first fitting. The only genuinely awkward case is a very thin-shelled helmet with no interior space, which is rare on ECE 22.06 approved models.

No, never. Everything fits without tools and comes off without a trace. Drilling or gluing the outer shell would compromise the helmet's approval and its strength in an impact.

Yes, by buying a second mounting kit. The unit clips on and off its bracket: you leave a bracket on each helmet and move the unit across.

Bluetooth if you ride alone, two-up with your pillion, or with a small settled group. It is simple, proven and cheaper.

Mesh if you regularly ride with more than three, or if the group spreads out and regroups. The network rebuilds itself when someone drops back then returns: that is what saves stopping to re-pair.

If you are unsure, the question to ask is not technical but practical: how many times per ride do you lose sight of someone?

Yes. Article R412-6-1 of the French highway code prohibits wearing any sound-emitting device in the ear, which covers earphones and headphones. A motorcycle intercom is built into the helmet and its speakers are not worn in the ear: it does not fall under that ban.

The rule differs across Europe. In Italy and Spain the ban on earphones is comparable to the French one. In Germany, §23 StVO only requires that hearing not be masked, which leaves more latitude. In every case, stay able to hear what is around you.

They are something to add to the file, not automatically admissible proof. In France, personal use is accepted and the assessment rests with the judge or the insurer.
