How-to: connecting your FreedConn intercom to your phone and GPS

Can't get your FreedConn to connect? Here's the universal procedure to pair your kit with your iPhone, Android, or GPS in under 2 minutes.

Step 1: "Pairing" mode (the color secret)

90% of failures happen right here. Turning the intercom on isn't enough. To make your FreedConn visible to your phone:

1. With the intercom off, press and hold the Power button.
2. Don't release it when the blue light comes on.
3. Keep holding (about 5-8 seconds) until you see Red and Blue flashing alternately. Only then will your phone detect it under the name "FreedConn", "T-Max" or "R1".

Step 2: connecting 2 devices (Multipoint)

Did you know most FreedConn models can handle two simultaneous Bluetooth connections?

- The use case: you can connect your personal phone (for music/calls) + your motorcycle GPS (TomTom/Garmin) or a work phone.

- The method: connect the first device, turn off that first device's Bluetooth. Connect the second. Turn the first one's Bluetooth back on. The FreedConn will connect to both

Step 3: Audio multitasking (GPS + Intercom at the same time)

Forget conversation cutouts every time you get a route instruction.

Smart mixing: thanks to audio mixing technology, you can hear your GPS instructions (or listen to your music) in the background while still talking with your group.

Zero interruption: combine Intercom + GPS, Intercom + Music, or Music + GPS. Independent volume management guarantees uninterrupted listening.

Note: only standard models (without a mixing function) will pause the intercom during a GPS instruction.

Step 3: managing GPS (smartphone vs dedicated GPS)

If you use Waze/Maps on your phone: instructions will briefly cut your music or blend with it (most models allow this thanks to audio mixing).

If you use a motorcycle GPS (Garmin/TomTom): pair it like a "phone". The GPS will often take priority over phone music. Important note: on standard Bluetooth models (non-Mesh), a phone call or GPS instruction will generally cut off the intercom conversation with your passenger. That's a safety priority.

Bonus: voice assistants (Siri / Google)

Once connected, you no longer need to touch your phone. On models like the T-Max Pro or the KY Pro, a short press activates your smartphone's assistant (Siri or Google). But the real revolution is on premium models like the FX PRO: they come with their own built-in AI voice control.

Control calls, music, or navigation via the built-in voice assistant "Xiaoyi".

Voice commands are even customizable. Everything is controlled directly by voice, both hands firmly on the handlebars.

Once connected, you no longer need to touch your phone. On models like the T-Max Pro or the KY Pro, a short press on the multifunction button (or a dedicated button depending on the model) activates Siri or Google Assistant.

"What's the weather?" It all happens inside your helmet, hands on the handlebars.

In summary:

- Red/Blue = Ready to connect.

- Blue only = Already connected (or not in detection mode).

If it doesn't work: "Forget device" on your phone and start again from step 1.
